Tips on how to easily clean your diamond ring
The most important thing you can do to the diamond ring is to wear it and keep it shiny. It will put a smile on your face. It’s a luxury product, but also one that signifies and underlines your commitment and love. Your diamond ring has to look bright!
When I sell the ring, it is always shiny, brand new and unworn. The brand new ring that features a suitably selected Ideal Cut diamond creates excitement and is very smooth to the eye. However, as all of us have seen regular rings on ladies fingers that feature a diamond, be it large or small and the ring looks dull. It looks absent any real sparkle, brilliance or scintillation. The one unfortunate part about diamonds is that they attract grease, dirt, and gunk. In fact, the miners in the final stages of separation of kimberlite and diamonds use a grease conveyor belt as the only real way to separate diamonds. A rough carbon crystal in 99% of all cases will stick to grease, dirt or oil.
The diamond ring lives on fingers, of course. Fingers are splendid at getting a fair amount of dirt naturally. Through my many years of working in the diamond jewellery field, I have found that the single worse enemy of the diamond engagement or a wedding band ring is, hand cream. Hand cream will dull any diamond. It will kill the light return, brilliance on best colour and best clarity diamonds, in one application. Ladies love hand cream, but it’s a pity to see a diamond ring look much cheaper than people have paid, because of hand cream
At pure diamond very early on I have decided that all cleaning will be free forever. I wanted to include maintenance, prong check, rhodium plating and resizing for free forever. I always offer complimentary, resizing and cleaning of diamond rings that I sell. It’s critical to help people wear and enjoy beautiful jewellery they purchased. Pure Diamond will always be there to help.
I have decided to put this handy little infographic together to help you maintain and keep your diamond ring clean:)
Best tip: Regular application of the old toothbrush and soapy water will keep your diamond engagement ring spotless.
